This is not a staged performance. It is a guided introduction to authentic village life – the kind of visit that leaves you with a more layered and honest understanding of Zimbabwe than any number of safari drives can provide.

What the Tour Covers

Your guide – knowledgeable, locally rooted, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing their heritage – leads you through a traditional village community near Victoria Falls. Over two unhurried hours, you encounter:

• Traditional homesteads – the architecture, layout, and social logic of a Zimbabwean family compound, where the placement of every structure carries meaning
• Daily routines and crafts – women grinding grain, weaving baskets, preparing food using techniques passed down through generations; men demonstrating traditional woodcarving, drumming, and tool use
• Cultural customs and ceremonies – your guide explains the significance of ceremonies marking birth, coming of age, marriage, and harvest – traditions that remain alive and practised
• Traditional medicine and plant knowledge – the extraordinary range of medicinal plants used by communities in this region, and the knowledge systems that govern their use
• Music and storytelling – a short demonstration of traditional song and the oral tradition through which history, moral guidance, and community identity have been transmitted for centuries

This tour is conducted with the full participation and consent of the village community, who receive a direct share of the proceeds. Photography is welcome but guided by local protocols – your guide will advise on what is and is not appropriate to photograph, and why.
